Has anyone been? Can you tell me what accomodation you stayed in? I'm bamboozled by the choice as once you've decided you then have to decide your area/room number - how am I supposed to know which is the best???? Am thinking of the new style woodland lodges but am interested in all experiences -
thanks
thanks

we stayed in a three bed comfort plus lodge. It wasn't luxurious but was functional and comfy. We chose the inner circle for our lodge so that a facilities weren't too far away. Its a fab village with a fantastic pool, have fun!!0

We stayed in a 3 bedroom Comfort Plus at Sherwood Forest in June this year. We stayed in the Maple area which was an excellent location with it only being about 4 or 5 minutes walk from the main area. The accommodation was spacious but the cleanliness of the carpet, curtains & sofa left a lot to be desired. One of the bedrooms smelt of damp but because there was only 3 of us we rarely ventured in. The kitchen had all the utensils you would need and was clean. The outside furniture was green plastic, which was dirty and it needed cleaning before use. There is no maid service in the Comfort or Comfort Plus but I'm sure in more expensive accommodation someone comes in to clean and make the beds.
The extras you receive in a Comfort Plus in comparison to a Comfort were a dishwasher, towels (loads) and a DVD player. You also get shampoo and I think soap. The shampoo is in a tiny bottle so take your own. Also there was about 1/2 a toilet roll, so just in case you get caught short when you arrive remember to take your own. You'll also need to take dishwasher tablets (they give you 1) & washing up liquid (there is a small 1 use sample) so take that as well.
There are various children's play area's around the complex. Our son was 20 months and they were excellent for him. The swimming pool complex (Free entry) was fantastic with small pools for toddlers and various slides, flumes etc for kids and adults. However, it did become extremely crowded when it was raining outside. Everything else you have to pay for and it can work out quite expensive. One afternoon we had the intention of going 10 pin bowling but were put off by the cost £20 for 45 minutes and £25 for 55 minutes.
We had on the whole an enjoyable short break but are undecided on whether we'll go back. I know if we had deep pockets we would go back and stay in an executive lodge and eat out at the over priced restaurants.
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

I think like most things in life you tend to get what you pay for. We went to Centre Parks at Sherwood and stayed in a 2 bed Woodland Lodge (the most basic option). The appartment smelled fusty and there was lots of evidence of poor cleaning, such as dirt/dust around the place and cobwebs. The decor was basic. However the beds and bathroom were OK.
I have also been as a day guest and been to a relatives appartment which was one of the top of the range ones with private sauna (sorry can't remember what they are called). This was sparklingly clean and much better decorated and more modern.
However we found we spent very little time in the appartment. Just sleeping and a few meals. The idea of Centre Parcs is enjoying the great outdoors. We hired bikes and rode all over the place. We also spent a lot of time in the pool area. If i'd have spent several hundreds of pounds on the better accomodation I probably wouldn't have felt i'd had my moneysworth and would maybe have been more inclined to spend more time in the apartment, which would defeat the object of the holiday.
Its up to you and your family how much importance you put on the quality of your accomodation and how much time you intend to spend there and how much you want to spend.
Hope it helps.0 -
I appreciate the fact that, staying in a higher spec apartment you get more luxuries. But why does it mean the lower spec should be cleaned at a lesser standard?
Surely they should all be as clean as each other.0 -
Merely my Observations. Been there twice, seen two types of accomodation options and there was a big difference in cleanliness as well as facilities. I'm not saying it should be like that, it just happened to be that way in my experience.0
