in Credit cards
today i lost my visa debit card in the bank - i got some cash out via the cashier and the way she handed me the wad back with the receipt and card in the middle i mustve dropped it - anyway, i never noticed but while i was leaving the bank i heard someone shout my name - they mustve read my name on the card - anyway by the time i realised i didnt have it when i went to pay for something it was about 30mins later - i rushed back to the bank but it hadnt been handed in...so, i have had the card cancelled
my question is;- even though nothing has shown up on my bank account yet what do i do if someone did manage to use it? the lady who dealt with me was very very vague and didnt say much - she just said depends on how quick you cancelled - that told me nothing and i was in too much of a state to really go into details....it is with lloyds tsb....
also, the card has my bank details on yet i only have the card cancelled - does that mean now i have to very wary as someone now has my bank account number?

You should not be liable for any losses now it has been reported lost.0

Don't wary about your bank account details. There is no secret in this: these details are printed on each your cheque ...0

One question is that of liability for any transactions which were made between you losing the card and you reporting it lost. The ady who dealt with you may have been vague with you as there may have been no definite way of establishing whether or not the card had been used. Some card authorisations don't show up on every bank's systems immediately once they happen. Check your account in 2-3 days or so, if nothing has debited that you don't recognise, there's a very good (but not definite) chance that you've got away with it.
And yeah, you've got absolutely no reason to worry about a potential fraudster knowing your sort code, account number and the name the account is held in. The worst that could happen is a direct debit could be set up on your account fraudulantly. If this happens, and money claimed, you're entitled to a full and immediate refund from your bank.0
