Blank Videos, time to rid myself of them, but who'll take them?

didn't no where else to put this, so here it is.

i have got 100's of old home recorded video tapes that i no longer want. Now i'm quite happy to just throw them away, but first i wondered if any charitable organisations would accept them, as they are all re-usable as blanks.

I have had some charity organisations turn away brand new electrical stuff from me (as it needs to be checked by a sparky) and wondered where they stand on items like the aforementioned videos.

if they're no go. how about these places that buy stuff from the public and sell it on (modern day pawn shops) like cash converters

cheers

Most of the charity shops don't want the video tapes, either.

On my last trip to the Tidy Tip, the guys there were stacking up, a couple of hundred, which had been thrown away.

Don't think they were having much luck selling any - some were proper films, too - not just home made programmes, to never watch.

& I wouldn't think even 'adult' material was popular - enough of that in the www already!!

If you just want rid of them, do you have a Freecycle group near you??? It's amazing what other people can use!

  • i doubt if cash converters would take them because people like to buy new blank video tapes and in most cheap shops you can get about 3-5 blank videos for a couple of pound. however, it's always worth asking. what about donating them to the women's institute; social club or a prison so the inmates could use them.

No use for the OP, but along the same vein - local blind associations are often interested in blank audio cassettes. I just got rid of a box to them.
  • Hi!

I don't know were you're based, but I think we'll be needing some VHS tapes in feb/march for our FM broadcast!

drop me a line chris.dodd@scratchradio.co.uk, I'll see if we need them at our meeting on thurs.

    Cheers
