Need some advice re Barclaycard

in Credit cards
I have a barclaycard upon which I have a credit limit of £2,100 and a balance of about £2,240
As you can see I am over my limit, yet at the start of the year they changed my statement so that I didn't have to pay off the overdrawn bit, just the minimum of £50 a month.
So, I can afford the minimum each month, yet I'm over my limit and as a result I am only paying about £7 off the debt a month.
I wrote and asked them to freeze the interest for a couple of months. just until I paid off the over the limit bit, explaining I was only paying £7 a month off the actual debt as the rest is going on interest.
Got a standard letter back saying NO.
Next month I will be in a position to repay more each month, about £100.
I have read of people getting there interest reduced and just wondered if anyone could offer some advice, I am not trying to get out of the debt.
In fact, they told me if I went into arrears I could negotiate, but I am in arrears, it's just there statement have been jiggled about so as long as I pay the £51 a month they're happy.
It also says on each statement I've incurred a charge, but there is no charge debited.
Highly confused. Need advice.
Thank you in advance
ALso, I don't work as children are below school age and have bad credit rating.
p.s no charges on there that I can reclaim.
