It sounds like your mail server could be being used as a relay for spammers. Do you have a support company to help with your IT?0

You have checked your machine for spyware and viruses? Just in case your machine is infected and may be causing background problems?A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0

arty no, Belnahua downloaded a free checker and it found a virus, and errr isolated it or put it somewhere. to be honest im ready to format PC and start again, BUT somone took the trouble to report me for spam and iv'e looked it seems a long drawn out affair i really couldnt be bothered to do myself , but if its simple for a novice to find the details and report then i will.
If there was a simple way then if everyone did it the loonies would give up, or so id hopeDiv 1 Play Off Winners 2007

Bordercars, I would've thought now it'd be very hard to report spam as spammers fake their return to addresses, so any report would be fraught with implications.
Which is why I wondered if perhaps there was a spybot on your machine hijacking your smtp out server.
Perhaps worth changing your email password incase someone has compromised your outgoing server.
I get loads of spam, as in delivery failures, which means that someone is using my email address as a return to address, and would've thought that I would be threatened with closure if they trusted this return address too easily.
Either that or you had some dimwit in a technical call centre being an idiot and not doing his/her job properly and closing your account. Not that I have anything against call centres, but WHEN YOU RING THEM UP, I DON'T EXPECT TO HAVE TO EXPLAIN THEIR OWN BL**DY WEBSITE TO THEM </rant>. I had an error today which said to call a number and my personal manager will resolve the account issue and allow me to login again, spent 10 minutes to some idiot in India before I slammed the phone down in desperation, trying to explain their own error message. I digress. Bad day...Sorry!A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -
really dont know what happened, but my ISP is a business provider as i have a business line only to home, they monitor my allowance by the smallest amount and if i exceed my 2gb i have to pay more, it also has a fixed address ? and thats how they traced the spam. the email was in german and offering fake watches, good g*d im a 1 man taxi operator in a small town of 10000 in suffolk , talk about big brother. one thing i do know if you put me in a cell with a spammer or one of these virus idiots, one of us would be coming out in a box. using my domain name or bandwidth which i have paid for is theft , someone should get on this and sort the *********** * ** *** * idiots out. rant over thanks for the suggestions.Div 1 Play Off Winners 2007

Interesting, here's another thought; do you use wireless and have you secured you router if so.
My friend did an experiment and found that in 1 mile from his home there were 100+ wifi points and about 1/3 of them were wide open with no security! He used a wifi sniffer programme with a laptop and GPS tracker. He didn't use any of them, just reported on their setups!
Could be someone's using your wireless, and hence why it's been traced to your fixed ip address?
But I agree with your sentiments, my ISP's spam filter collects and stops around 1000+ a day, but about 100 still makes it through a day, it hacks me off having to delete all this cr4p.A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0
