If you bought a package then you should be covered by one of three means:
bonding (eg ABTA)
insurance that the travel company has bought itself
clents' money being held in a trust account where it must stay until after the holiday is over0 -
We didn't book flights so not covered by ABTA and the web site is saying go to bank, and bank are saying nothing to do with us!!!!!!!!!!!0

Doesn't have to include flights - just be a package of more than one item at an inclusive price.
If it was accommodation only then you've lost some or all of your money depending on whether the company has any assets to realise. It will be a long time before you see this if it applies.0 -
Have you tried to contact the Company Liquidators/Administrators.
There would have been a firm appointed to handle the affairs so I would get their details if you can and refer all your queries to the liquidators/administrators.
As you have paid them money, you are a creditor of the company and are within your rights to pursue any avenue possible to recover your money.0 -

Contacting liquidators is no quick fix. Try suing a liquidator.... Pointless.0 -

Actually ABTA no longer truly covers travel agents if they don't pass the money onto a tour operator - they only cover you once the money has been passed on - so if the TA spends your money then your up the creek unless you paid with a Visa Debit or CC. See hereWhat Happens if Your Travel Agent Ceases to Trade?
If you’ve made your booking through a travel agent, it’s important that you obtain and keep all the paperwork referred to above. This will show that you have a booking with the relevant holiday company.
You should contact the holiday company to make sure that the booking is in place. If it is, then your travel arrangements should continue unaffected.
In the unlikely event that your travel agent has failed to make your booking with a travel company you should contact your credit card company if you paid by credit card. If you didn’t pay by credit card, contact our claims enquiries office for advice and assistance. Contact: ABTA Claims, PO Box 127, Metro House, Northgate, Chichester PO18 8WQ, Tel: 01243 621 500.
ABTA may not be able to recover your money for you but we can assist in taking the matter up with the relevant authorities
