missing in action!

hi there,

i recently tried to play the 0% balance transfer game only to find that my credit score was'nt so good! I think its because I've been living with my girlfriend for 2 1/2 years but only just came clean and got on the electoral roll 4 months ago! I've been with hsbc 8 yrs and they gave me a credit card no worries 3 months ago but now the 0% terms are running out, I can't seem to get my hands on any of the transfer deals! I just wanted to ask if anyone had any advice on handling being off the electoral radar when it comes to credit agencies?!

You really do need to get on the Electoral Role before making any more applications.

This is pretty crucial to getting a decent line of credit and is the reason for many a rejection.

    yep.

And if the OP has got himself on there, it''l be December (I think.... so says YB) when it's updated onto his file.

Don't bother applying till then maybe

If you registered your details on the electoral roll four months ago, the credit reference agencies should have been updated by now.

Have you checked the electoral status on your credit reports?

I can't help much but I can tell you that an OP is an original poster (of a thread), i.e. you :)

Also, when you check your records with Experian do make sure your address history is all there; that was my problem recently. You can add extra info to Experian pretty easily.
  • ok credit report thru from experian this morning. only appear on the electoral roll at my current address since 07/08! i was still registered at my old address up until the beginning of 2007, so theres a missing period of 1 1/2 years... do you think that will have an detrimental effect to my score or will just waiting till i have been on the roll at my current address for at least 3 months before making another application be enough to help things?! b)
