when to apply for Student Account

My son is moving to London next week to study. Should he wait until he's moved into his new place and open a student account then or start the process now (Liverpool) I was wondering as looking on other threads it appeared documents etc are sent to your present home an as my son will have left L,pool I'd have to send on his mail.???

a lot of students keep their parents /home address rather than use the term time address - less changes on the electorial role means it won't affect his credit history, etc. (if you move a lot then it can effect things!) (most students tend to move each year as well - so it saves him having to keep changing his address with banks etc)

This means he could organise the student account now if he wants... or you can send the forms to him once he's moved (it could take a week for it to be opened).

Once the account is open then you wont have to pass on much post - some banks don't send statements or you can choose to be green and just do online banking instead - so you should only have to send the initial paperwork - he can arrange to pick up the cheque book/card etc via a branch (choose one near his Uni).
Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later date :o:D
now at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!
