5 year free home loan

Why is the five year free interest loan only available in England? What about the rest of us in the UK?

Its not interest free, the 30% this shower of a government are offering will be swallowed up in house price falls leaving the FTB up s**t creek without a paddle in 5 years, when they have to find the 30% plus a "fee". Crash Gordon must think the country have less of an IQ than him (which is about 5 I reckon)

You've already had the scheme running for some time.
  • Doesn't Crash Gordon understand that confidence cannot be restored like this, do they not understand the fact that most people think house prices are too high and are not prepared to pay for them.

Making the money available to people is an opportunity yes, but only an opportunity to get people into unreasonable debt to satisfy the liquidity problems of the banks and financial institutions that lobby the government and donate to their campaigns. The whole thing stinks

  • Hi,
Just arrived in Britain from Australia and can't believe how many whingers and moaners there are here who are relying on the government to get them out of the sh*t they have got themselves into with the Credit Crunch.
People - wake up and stop blaming & relying on the banks, government, your disability and get off your fat as*es and sort your own messes out!
I bet these same people weren't complaining when the banks gave them a mortgage at 4/8 times their salary. Poor pets now they are in the proverbial and waiting for everybody to bale them out. What about the people who didn't get themselves in too far with credit - do they get a handout? Reminds me of the blo*dy farmers back home always expecting the government to bail them out when they plant the wrong crop for an arid country like Australia.
Stop acting like a welfare state and help yourselves out.
The government should stand back from the market and let the "recession that Britain has to have" run its course.
That's my 2 cents (2 pence) worth - guaranteed to stir up a lot of people here but made from an unbiased outsider looking in.
I'm interested in everybody else's oppinions.

It's apparently only for 'decent people.' That's why it's only available in England then. ;)

you are alluding to moral hazard. but dont you see its political so save one or two jobs? Many people are anti-intervention.

Notwithstanding, Im sure some of those that will seek help are ANZACs that have purchased in the UK. And yes there are a significant number of them.

Speaking as a tax payer, the whole shenangians is a disgrace. Im typing with my arms folded to show my disgust.

I would rather live in Oz where they have just cut interest rates to help their moaning homeowners. :j some jumping jacks to finish
