renewing a rail season ticket...

hi all, i am about to renew my rail season ticket, i read somewhere a while ago that if my rail company (southeastern) has performed badly over the last month or so, i could ask for a reduced fair......
two question :-
1) is this true or was i being wound up?
2) if is it true, has anybody ever done it?
my current ticket expires and the price has gone up £200 odd pound since last year and i am loathed to pay £200 more when i hardly even get a seat sometime
oh and i travel from gillingham to london on southeastern and the ticket cost is £3260 a year!
any help/advice would be very welcomed

I would think that the £3260 applies to someone buying a new season ticket and will not include the reduction given to those renewing.
From SE trains site:
If you have a season ticket valid for a month or more and, on average over an annual period, our performance on the group of routes you use has been below a specified level, we will provide compensation in the form of a discount when you renew your ticket. To qualify for a discount, you must renew your ticket within four weeks of the expiry of the old one; it must be for the same journey, and be for the same or a shorter period0
