Want to buy a house....but where??!!!

Hi all

Yes I know what you are all saying....wait and the price of houses will fall further !!!! Ok i accept that but I need to start looking now..

Let me explain

My mrs and I got married last December. She works in Manchester and I work in Leeds....being the caring person I am :) we decided to live in Manchester so she could get into work without travelling lots....so I do the hefty drive on the M62 every morning and with petrol prices, its costing us a fortune.

At the moment the money is not a huge problem...we get paid well and we save hard. The flat we live in is mine and bought outright about 6 years ago and has been rented out until we moved into it in January.

We have £100K savings and now I am frustrated by looking at the same 4 walls and fed up of the travelling....so I need to buy a house...but where???? We are looking somewhere in between Manchester and Leeds....does anyone on this board know of good areas round that part of the world......

Yes prices may start falling further but we may as well start looking at some areas !!!!

Thanks

Have you not thought about getting a job in the same city?

Use right move and pick somewhere halfway between the two places and then set the miles higher and see what right move has in your price range.
  • Most of the areas between Leeds and Manchester are small villages, very quaint but if you like city life then probably not for you! Hebden Bridge nr Halifax is pretty and a little bigger than the surrounding villages. Have a look!
  • I live between Leeds and Manchester, on the outskirts of Rochdale. It is on the pennines, so are either villages or suburb type places outside of small towns.

Have a look at.....Rochdale, Halifax, Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, Saddleworth, Milnrow (next to motorway), Littleborough

Personally I think you should concentrate your efforts on finding a job in Manchester, instead of Leeds!

Not only would you then be able to buy a house in Manchester when settled in your new job, but with less time spent commuting, it'd give you much more quality time as a couple.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
