I couldn't sleep at night being with A & L. Am looking for a home for a lump sum and some of the Building societies seem much more secure to be, although am also looking at HSBC.0
-
A & L are safe are they not?. I have 90k with them in a 1 yr fixed and I'm sleeping like a babyLiquidity is when you look at your investment portfolio and **** your pants0
-
The most I would save with any bank/building society is £25K to £30K. The Financial Services Compensation Scheme only covers 100% of the first £35,000.0

Those who dont have a A+L E-Saver should note that most 100% cashback sites, e.g Quidco, Cashback Kings, Getpoundsback, We Promise to offer 20.00 cashback for opening a new A+L E-Saver.0

It's a very easy £20 cashback (I've had it twice, and will be going for a third next month), but I wouldn't be rushing to put any serious money in here with the 'no interest in month of withdrawal' clause.
After all, someone else is bound to come along very soon with a (hopefully clean) 6.57% AER account which will knock them off the top of the table.

Any organisation that operates such a clause should be avoided on principle if nothing else.YorkshireBoy wrote: », but I wouldn't be rushing to put any serious money in here with the 'no interest in month of withdrawal' clause.

But you can withdraw in the month of July without loosing interest for that month, unless I have read it wrong.
