Replacement Boiler & Fitting Quote

Hi there. I'd be grateful for opinions on whether this a fair quote for a replacement combi:

Ideal mini HE c24 - condensing boiler. £1699 including fitting.
The above includes VAT, digital timer/thermostat, external scale reducer & powerflushing the radiators.

Also does anyone have any opinions on this boiler being suitable. It's a 2 bed mid terrace house, with 3 single rads and 1 double rad, 2 sinks and bath/shower.

thanks!

Where do you live. Prices in London will be much higher than up North for example
  • Hi thanks for the reply - in London.

i forgot to add the quote includes removing the old boiler, adapting or replacing existing pipework, a wire-free thermostat controller, sludge remover, corrosion inhibitor, benchmarkeing and registering the installation.

I also have the possibility of having the 28kw version fitted for another £117 - is this worth it, especially if I do like a decent shower?

  • It doesn't look bad depending on how much work is involved.

I don't know much about the Ideal Mini HE, plenty of info here though,

Personally I tend to stick with Alpha, Vaillant and Worcester when it comes to gas combis. It doesn't mean the Ideal isn't a good choice, they are a good established boiler company, get as much info as you can and get at least another couple of quotes from recommended plumbers.
  • Thanks - the estimate is pretty comprehensive and they have a good number of positive recommendations. I think I'll go for the higher kW spec, as I would hate to be slightly disappointed for the sake of a hundred quid. I'm trying to get another couple of quotes, but some companies just don't seem to be so bothered due to the time of year. I've also tried the utility companies, including BG but they're just inundated at the moment - I presume that they're not going to be cheap though?
  • I have to replace my boiler too and I had British Gas round for a quote and it was £3000.00. I had another quote by a local firm and it was half that!!
I only need a combi boiler for a 2 bedroom flat, small bathroom, just a few rads.
It took ages to get the appointment sorted and the customer service side was terrible. I have a service contract with them already and the service is very poor. I wouldn't bother with British Gas.
Your quote seems very good to me, I need more quotes, does your new boiler supplier cover the Gatwich area?
