Its these sort of deals that make Tesco the No.1 supermarket, yes Asda will come up with a price to match, but Tesco have already stolen the march and the other supermarkets are left playing catch up again.

this is true to some extent, but i remember last year, it was morrisons who started selling these tins at £4 each first, and the other other supermarkets were forced to price match them, so it is not always tescos leading the way, but saying that, if these tins do have a long enough date on them, it may be worth buying them while they are on this offer, as i cant see them being this cheap nearer xmas, Dave

Partly perhaps, but I think the size of Tesco's estate has more to do with it. There are seven Extras, four Superstores and more Express stores than I care to think about all closer to me than my nearest Asda.

Tesco reacts as much as it leads in my experience.

C-word gear does seem to be out particularly early, could be wrong but I thought it was later than this last year. I suspect there are a few nervous buyers out there looking at the volumes they have committed to versus the current economic climate...

Blatant rip off, I only want one tin . No I'm not going to pay 8 quid and take two and give one away, or pair up with someone else who only wants one tin :mad:.

The Christmas stuff does seem to be out early this year. Chocs I can face, but Advent calendars on the 1st Sept....

I think Constantine may be right. Maybe the supermarkets are worried that they have too much stock to shift - by putting it out early people will start buying now to spread the cost. Could be some bargains later on if they can't get rid of it all.

Maybe a bit to do with the current climate, but i know morrisons where always planning on putting it out this early, as last xmas we was given a calendar which states when certain promotions and key events(i.e easter, summer sale, fireworks, xmas) would start to be implemented into the stores, just checked it, and it does indeeed say xmas sweets first weekend in september, xmas biscuits 2nd weekend in september, so they have either got a very good fortune teller, or they are trying to keep ahead of the competitors, i just been into tescos to get these tins of sweets, and noticed they have got there xmas sweets out as well, but only on 8ft, where as our morrisons have it out on 32ft, bit of a difference there, anyhow, it can only be good for us the consumer, Dave
