I've been really stupid

  • Polly I think this is my third LB moment I have to keep trying them for some reason, I'm going to make sure I remember today, how awful I have felt so I will never stray off the DFW path again ;)

    I did quite well...

I've told parents i'm not spending much for christmas and why

I told boss I was looking for a second job, she was lovely

Told hubby, got to say not the debt :o but the budget not balancing...don't say it!

Told kids, youngest one was wonderful and has agreed to take sandwiches everyday...teenager less so, but knew we had no choice

Turns out we were £225 short a month, hubby spent the night ringing round cancelling things, even if we saved a £1. We now balance without worrying when/if the £6000 will turn up or if I can get a second job, its to the penny so i'm going to have to be so strict.

Set up meeting to tell debt charity how things are

    Applied for two jobs

My boss gave me a name of a company that she thinks I should try for work as its the same as i'm doing now so I could pick up extra hours in the same place.

Approached a local business and asked them for some private work, managed to get them to agree to what I wanted :T nothing will be guaranteed, but I was brave for me ...anything they give me will be a bonus.

Hopefully I will get some sleep tonight.

I can't believe how busy it is here now, looks like the financial climate is affecting quite a few of us.

Thanks for propping me up, you just need someone to calm you down at the beginning don't you (((hugs))) to all.

I would tut myself but I think this is our 3rd LBM - we just weren't on the site for the other 2! At least you are doing something about it now - and from the sound of it, have some assets.... Hope things work out for you with the new job...

Good to see you're making progress twinkle. Just remember that if you lose some momentum in the following weeks, that's normal. Keep posting and hopefully we'll be seeing alot more happy faces in the threads :D

George I forgot to thank you for the advice about not closing CC straight away, I will try to get a BT thanks.

I had a good nights sleep so feel alot better today, and yes small smiles today smashed :D

Savingholmes I did at least have my LB's in the comfort of DFW ;) So I did one thing right :rotfl:

    Plan of action next...

    Hubby is cancelling dog insurance
Ring primus as I think their telephone landline is a bit cheaper
Explain to debt charity my situation
Tell friends I can't join in some social activities anymore :o
design a poster and leaflets to take to the company, may look at vistaprint too for some free business cards

Can I ask please, we have been decluttering for a while and have a pile of stuff ready to go to the charity shop, i'm thinking of selling it now. Is ebay still a good way to make a bit of money. Last time I was here ebay really got us out of a hole, but i've heard fees are alot higher now?

    Practice makes perfect! ;)

I've just read your post from 3rd September, you're SO positive and you've done so many things to get back on track.
Good luck with the new job search.

  • I got into this situation too, my partner and I sorted ourselves out although there were
a few old debts that we were disputing but never did it the correct way. OH was earning
well, but like you we did the pay a bit more mext month and of course next month never
comes when you think like that! We now are earning less and feeling the pinch like many
but we are just about coping after sorting ourselves out a second time
Fortunately we got the problematic ones sorted like council tax and rent, its just the credit
cards and loans we are now sorting but have reduced it greatly through this site and
another one and buy paying what we can afford and what we do owe not ridiculous charges.

My way of contributing and responsing to the help I got was to create a website to help
people which is a search tool to find sites liek this (does well in google so hope it does well
when I finish it - its not a chat forum)

I found at first that when I was looking for help there was too much information and it took
me ages to find all the info I needed so collated it on one site as links. I did this and paid for
the site (cheap) as I was amazed how much help there is and once you dig about there is
some really good guidance on sites like this, loads of help and sometimes most of all support
in what you are trying to do.

Do go to the Voliuntary position you want to do as you can not only guide people to great
help, you will also understand the position the people are in. I found from talking to people
on sites like this helped me admiot what had happneded and got the right advice. I would
never have dealt with my debts if I had not got the help and support people like you and
the other posters on here provide to each other.
