Advice please - is my plumber responsible for the gas leak?
I had a new boiler fitted recently, which obviously involved their messing around with the gas.
The next day, there was a faint smell of gas. To cut a long story short, the gas meter was leaking. Now all gas meters are the territory of the National Grid, and they replaced it, but it still involved costs for me in getting the pipes reconnected afterwards.
Now here's the problem: the meter is meant to be 'owned' by the National Grid BUT it started leaking immediately after work was done on the gas, so it seems to me that it must have been knocked during the boiler installation. My plumber insists that since the leak is from the meter itself, it is not their responsibility.
Who is right?
