Bailiffs & Utilities companies: A Government petition

Hi there. I am new to this board, forgive me for posting in the wrong area. I'm pretty sure that what I'm referring to applies to most people here.
I have started a government petition regarding the underhand use of debt collection agencies by local government and utility bill companies, particularly in the liht of the recent price rises If you feel strongly about this, please go to the following address and sign the petition:

I can't support this petition I'm afraid, it's flawed in the sense that we should be fighting for lower fuel bills not for the consequences. One of the jobs of a debt collector is to distinguish the can't payers from the won't payers. Create a petition calling for either a renationalisation of utility companies or a limit on their profits after which time all money after the limit is returned to customers in the form of lower bills and I'll sign that instead.

Edit - just noticed this is cross-posted spam, which I've tagged the other posts with, frankly it annoys me when someone comes onto a board promoting their own cause without contributing anything first.

I detest the modus operandi of these DCAs.

However I detest even more the attitude of so many people who take absolutely no responsiblity for their debts; and their bad debts are paid for by the rest of us.

Not sure why you feel going to a DCA is underhand; they warn people first!

If your petition is to request that Utility Companies/Local Government make it crystal clear(i.e. not underhand) that they will take every step possible to get what they are owed, then it would have my support.

My point exactly, this will be a get out of jail free card for anyone who just wants to be irresponsible. Deal with the high costs, not the minority who think it's okay to be wilfully irresponsible and make it worse for us all. Like I say though the posts are spam, new person on the board cross-posting four times promoting their cause, which is why I have even less time for the OP.
