Fiat Punto 54 reg key

Hi

Can anybody advise why it should take 3 weeks, and still waiting, to get a replacement key fort a Fiat Punto (54 plate)?

It is not my car but my niece's and I'm astounded that it has taken so long.

The original key was burnt. I have seen replacement blanks for sale on eBay. Can these be easily coded (Rover, for example, can be reset by repeatedly pressing the lock/unlock buttons).

Is my niece being taken for a ride? (or not as she has no car!)

GG

  • Like most new keys - they come from the factory...

They need to be coded to the cars ECU.

The bit you refer to about Rovers was the plip which can easily be reset. Like Vauxhalls and Fords etc...
