thanks, looks like i didnt need to be worried, got the card this morning and just activated it, £6k limit! so pleanty of credit for what i need it for!! thank god, so paris and canada here i come! (well next year any way, but at least i can book them!)
i also set up a dd for the minimum balence whilst i was on the phone, can you still make interim payments?? (as the only options were full balence or minimum, so i set up dd for minium payments and intend to pay a bit extra each month if i can in between, as some cards if you make an interim can cancel out the direct debit??)
as long as i clear the debt by 30th november 2009 i am fine according to cap 1 and wont pay interest. what i am hoping to do, is work out how much it all comes to when i have booked both trips, and divide that by the number of months until the 0% deal ends (or the month before to be on the safe side) and pay that each month and lock the card away
or the other option is to pay the minimum, still work out what i would pay if i paid an equal amount each month, bank the difference and then pay off a lump sum in oct next year for instance out of the account the money has been paid into and getit earning some saving account interst?
Yes you can overpay each month - *but* some CCs won't take the DD if you've made another payment that cycle, so say your min payment is £30 and you manually pay £20, then the DD might not pay, meaning you've just underpaid £10, thereby losing the deal. Just make sure the DD has left the bank and you pay *after* that and into that cycle. I've almost been stung by doing this in the past, luckily I noticed in time. But yes, other than that you can overpay whatever you like.0 -

thanks you are right, i had a look at the t&c's and if a payment is made before the dd is taken, then it can reduce/cancel the other payment, so once the first bill comes through, i will have to make a note of the dd date and make a payment a day or two after thatMFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0
