I just wanted to ask, what would you (general you as in employees of a gas supplier) say if when you came to my door, and I asked for your full details (i.e. badge/ id) and wrote down your full name & employee number before allowing you in?
I've been thinking of doing this, as last time a lady came to read the meter, and I just let her in without a murmur. The time before a man came, and I said no, he can't come in without notice (silly maybe, but I didn't like the thought of him coming in as he gave me the creeps). I want to have a strategy in place for next time.
Back to the topic: In my previous house I had someone come around from a different supplier try and switch me and I almost signed a piece of paper he gave me before realising that he wasn't from my supplier (he made out that he was, and that there was a cheaper tariff he could get me on if I agreed...)0 -

"if I want to change suppliers I will do so at my own request in my own time on my own term's and at my own convenience and not because your stood on my bloody doorstep..."
"I am not the bill payer and no they are not home...goodbye..."
think of it this way...would you go up to a complete stranger and tell them your life story..no you wouldn't...
neither would you tell a complete stranger your bank details ordate of birth etc...tell these people nothing...
think before you speak...:D
also you only need to let a meter reader in at least once a year to read your meters if these are outside then you don't need to let anyone in...
