A warning ulocking mobiles then updating software

My friend spent £15 unlocking his mobile.
Then he downloaded updated software off the handset makers web site.
Then found his sim card would not work.
Apparently the downloaded software had reset the mobile.
So he paid another £15 to unlock and will not be updating software again.

Nothing is straight forward?

Its something that happens with most unlocks, they only work until the next software update more often than not.

Which is why you usually have to do a bit of rooting around the internet to find the generic manufacturers firmware for the phone, rather than the operator branded one..
