I was just wondering if anyone new how flexable Dell are with delivery of PC's. Will they do evening deliveries? or do they only do 9:00am-5:00pm. It means I will have to take a day off to recieve a PC next week. Both me and my wife work during the day.

You can ask them to dop it off at your workplace.. I've had them call at work in the past when my laptop was going in for repair.

It was all done through DHL, perhaps contact them?

    It was UPS for me.

My laptop was lost en route (or rather the UPS deivery man had an empty box - where it got lost was never divulged). They handled it well though so I don't hold it against them. However, UPS only do deliveries during the day and don't call beforehand (like the Dell website says).

If it hadn't been convenient for us to collect the laptop I would've had them deliver to my work - I'm sure one of either yours or your wife's work wouldn't mind.
  • ......And i had TNT and then Lynx deliver mine recently....didn't get offered any options other than 8am-6pm.
I tracked it through the Dell website, who use an Irish 3rd party delivery management company, who then sub it out to "whatever" courier in England.
I found it very difficult to get any kind of message through once the box is in transit.
Dell prefer you to go through their own people who deal with everything for you, but the longer the chain the slower the response. In the end the driver couldn't find the house......so i ended up in a conference call with Dell (in India...), the Irish firm, and TNT.....all trying to direct this driver up the road, past the pub, 4th house on the left etc..... Complete flippin' chaos but fun in the end...

It was UPS for me too - I it got delivered to work to avoid having to take the day off. They didn't call in advance but due to the fact i tracked it online I found out when it would be delivered - picked up from Ireland one evening - delivered the next day in the afternoon.

I called Dell to check when it would be delivered as it had been put in transit and i hadn't received a call saying when it would come and they were very helpful - apologised, told me when it would be arriving and then followed up with a call shortly after it arrived to make sure i got it.

Also if you are not in when they attempt delivery Dell won't let you collect from the courier.

With some replacement parts that they were delivering for me I did manage to get through to the courier (but only by using Google to obtain their phone number) and asking the courier nicely to delay delivery for a day a would be in, which they did agree to.
