You don't register your Sipgate number with VoIP Buster, you just use VoIP Buster, though I use SIP Discount as they offer free UK calls and can use my ATA with them.

I have registered my Sipgate number with 18866 and 1899, and can access 1899 / 18866 via their 0808 number, however yesterday 1899 increased their charges when using the 0808 access number. 18666 charge 1p/min via their 0808 access number.

With Sipgate there is a setting to disable outgoing CLI.

Or did you mean you wanted to use 1899 and 18866 via their VoIP service? If so then I have been able to get them to display my Sipgate number and non-existent numbers by registering them with 18866 / 1899.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

  • Hi Bex,

    I'm just talking about VoIP.

I use iax.1899.com as my outgoing VoIP with my BT number. I have a different Sipgate number set up to receive incoming VoIP.

I registered the Sipgate number with 1899 but when I try to set that up as my 1899 username on iax.1899.com it won't recognise it as valid when I try to make a call.

All I'm trying to do is use the same outgoing and incoming VoIP phone number totally free.

Yeah, it is a bit hit and miss with 1899, I'm afraid.

Yeah, it is a bit hit and miss with 1899, I'm afraid.

Any other ideas on how I can achieve this? Perhaps by using other suppliers? Have you had any success with this?

    TIA

I am able to send my Sipgate CLI with 18866 and 1899, however one or two other numbers I am unable to get to work.

I really only use Sipgate and SIP Discount. Sipgate for incoming calls and SIP Discount for out going. No number is displayed on my outgoing calls with SIP Discount, I just live with that.

I can't be bothered with the hassle of changing my ATA to 1899 when I want to make a call with them, as I might not have my PC so, so I use 1899 via Sipgate which does display my number.

Have you got that set up with the same CLI number for both?

No, Sip Discount don't have a number, so when dialled the call is sent anonymous.

  • Hi All,

I'm not sure if this is already in here, my appologies if it is.

I signed up to 1899.com which was found from this website (my dad pointed me in the right direction). Anyway it's been brilliant, last months bill was only £1.50. Normally it's quite expensive, beacause I call my mum and dad during the day - I started with the all day, every day free calls with BT, and I've slowly been chopping the package, especially as they put our Direct Debit up to £40.00 per month.

Anyway I recived my invoive from 1899.com, and decided to have another look at their website.

On the left hand side, there is now a section for VOIP. I looked into this a few months back when it was on the tele, but it was quite expensive to set up and you needed to have the other person on the same system. I'm aware that Ebay have brought Skype, but you still have to pay.

I visited the link on the 1899.com website, and quite smiply they are offering free UK calls.

Down load the software, get yourself a head set, and then you can dial land lines and other pc's via your computer. The trial is at 1min each call for free, but if you set up an account and deposit £10, you can have unlimited calls to other landlines for free, so really it's just a £10 activation fee. Just use the software on your PC to dial the number and away you go.

They aso give you a phone number, so people can phone you on your PC while you are online.

Anyway - I thought this was brilliant and just wanted to share it. My broadband does have problems during the summer as we live so far from the exchange and it will drop for hours, so as a back up, I will still be using the 1899 service (I've suck a sticker on the phone for everyone else!!!)

I hope this information is useful.

    Best Wishes

    Laura
  • Can anyone help? I've just connected a handytone 486, behind a linksys wrt54g router, connected to a telewest modem. I've forwarded all the ports etc, can get a dial tone, but can't hear anything when I call out. Can anyone provide me with a total idiot-proof guide, in case I've missed anything obvious?
