mp3 recorder help

I have a digital dictation recorder (mikomi from argos) that can record mesages a mp3 files. I downloaded a file to my pc. But the file format is an ACT file , which is not recognised by windows media player.

Please can anyon suggest how i can change this format to something that i can play with windows media player or record as mps? cant see anything in instrucion book to suggest i shoudl have this problem.

  • never come across a .act file in the context of audio before.

    but first, if it says it records as .mp3 files, you could try renaming it to name.mp3 and see if it works

    Next tip: Don't use a stinking programme like Windoze Media Player, or if you must, at least put a stop to it phoning home to Uncle Bill first ;)

  • It's an ADPCM Compressed File Recorded by Some MP3 Players/Voice Recorders.

    If you look here you can see the file type is supported by Konverter. You can download a free trila version of Konverter here.

    There's also a free utility you can use to convert ACT to WAV. The download link is at the bottom of this webpage.
