I have a steam cleaner from Argos which has a wallpaper stripping attachement. It was only £29.99 and does a very good job on my carpets and it doesn't soak them either, they are just damp and soon dry.

We have 2 dogs and the steam cleaner does a very good job of bringing the dog hairs out of the carpet and getting rid of doggy smells.

They are on the Argos website under Challenge Wallpaper Stripper, comes with lots of attachements.

    I've got both.
My steam cleaner I bought from believe it or not Cash Converters. It was branmd new and had a £199 tag on and I think I paid £35 for it. It's fabulous for cleaning the tiles in the kitchen. The conservatory gets the odd damp patch in the winter and I can clean the whole lot, from ceiling to floor in less than an hour. You have to be very careful cleaning windows in the winter as you could break them. It's a good all-rounder.

My Vax carpet shampooer is a Rapide. It was a 'cheap' one at £58 from Argos but it's quick and easy for spills which is probably what you need with a bab on the way - congratulations by the way!

Whichever you choose, you'll want the other one too ;)
But don't forget that the steam cleaner actually sterilises the surfaces it cleans .
