Hi
I have recently just purchased a house (well had offer accepted and survey carried out), however, Ive yet to sign the missives.
In light of todays news, does that mean that I no longer pay stamp duty, despite receiving the letter from our solicitor with the break down of all charges? (solicitor fees, stamp duty etc)
Thanks

I would presume that as nothings been signed yet and you do not own the house yet that you wont have to pay the quoted stamp duty.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

sounds like you are in Scotland ?
Not sure what happens there - in England the SD is paid at the rate applicable on the day of completion. Some people used to hold of on completion around the time of a budget if there was a chance of the SD thresholds changing (favourably that is !)
Answer is that if u were in england - your solicitor would send a revised account minus the SD provided the purchase price is below 175k.0 -
