Yeah you have to give notice to your own office and also the office you plan to marry in... So do have to pay twice...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

We gave notice at our local registry office and got married at a venue in another district. We only paid once but you do have to provisionally book in at the registry office that you want the ceremony at first as all the details go on the notice that you give in your own area.
The registrar then sends it to the district you're getting married in. You then have to pick up the certificates and send them to the registrar who is marrying you.
Hope that helps - if in doubt give them a ring and ask.Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

we are not getting married in our local district either, the registry office is in a horrible building and it is on the second floor, it looks like offices. we have choosen one not to far from us that is like a manor house and has ground to die for, so keeping my fingers crossed that it doesnt rain.0

Have you had to pay two lots of notice fees and how far in advance did you need to book?"I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0 -
I think you have to do it 15 days before you get married, this is so they can display your notice to marry. Yes we had to pay £30 each to our district and then pay for the ceremony which is around £125, but different registry offices charge different prices, the one we are marrying in state that you can get married for £25 but we did'nt ask what the difference was, we just went with the normal ceremony.
We went and booked the date with the registry office we wanted to get married at and then booked an appointment with the local one to give notice because they will want to know the date you intend to marry at the local one. It's best to give your local one a call and they will give you all the information you will need.0 -
It has to be at least 15 days before you get married as they have to post the notice in your local registry office in case anyone objects before they can issue the certificate for you to get married.
You can't book any further than a year in advance though. It was the most stress free bit of arrangement that I did. Before you go to give notice just check what ID you will need - we needed passport, decree absolutes and proof of adress for each of us. You will also need to know your dad's full names and occupations.Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended
