Hi,
We've just had an offer accepted on a house :j but we're in a slight quandry as to whether we pick a local (Birmingham) solicitor, who are on average £200-300 more expensive than big firms based in Leeds etc, who may be cheaper, but could they be slower/less accountable? Speed is of the essence, as a month extra rent wipes out any extra we save on the solictor's fees.
Any advice and/or recommendations?

You cant beat a good local solicitor. You get what you pay for. Avoid online cheapy firms.0

Bear in mind that with a Solicitor who is not local to you, you may incur additional costs in having to see a local solicitor to have your ID verified or to sign papers. You can also walk in to their offices easily to get updates should you encounter any problems. But always try and get a recommendation!0
