We have just had our study decorated so had to disconnect the computer etc.
Have reconnected the desktop OK and am using Netgear DG834 wireless router but for some reason the laptop doesnt connect. It keeps saying that a netwok cable is unplugged (it doesnt have any cables).
I think it must be some sort of security setting preventing it finding the broadband connection.
Has anyone any ideas (in words of one syllable please, I am a technophobe)
Thanks
Lolly

should be an icon that says netgear smart wizard (wg111 if thats what youve got)
double click it then select networks tab and scan for connection and select yours then click connect (you may need to enter your password depending on your security settings)0 -
There should be a reset button on the router/modem, I suggest you reset the modem and then reconnect adding in the isp details on the modem/router to allow initial connection on to net. Unless you remember password this would be your only option.0

Click Start - Control Panel - Network Connections.
What does it say under Status for Wireless Network Connection?
If it isn't 'Enabled', select it and then click 'Enable this network device' under Network Tasks on the RHS. Next, click 'View available wireless networks'; it should show your Netgear wireless network. If so, click Connect and it should acquire a network address.0 -
Thanks Guys
I will try your suggestions in the morning.
