how to keep bay window room warm

we moved to 1929 bungalow with north face bay window bedroom--had all room plasterboard /plastered except the bay area and good underlay -carpet over the boards -high output radiator installed but at other end of room.

you can feel the temp difference at the bay side much colder .

is double glaze and concrete block build so can not cavity insulate.

any ideas to keep this half of room warm-have good curtains too.

  • Big high output radiator under the bay window is the solution. Placing a radiator anywhere other than under a window is rarely an effective approach

Anyone saw dragons den yesterday? What about the skirting board-radiator? I thought that was not a bad idea....

Yes, the cost part wasn't very attractive...
But if the room is not that big and you lose one wall because that is where the radiator is, it might be worth investing... (Child's bedroom - bed, desk, wardrobe, sometimes the radiator is just in a way to put all things)

We have 2 bays each 12' 6" in diameter, one a kitchen and the other a bedroom. If yours are semicircular like ours then you can have single panel radiators rolled into the correct shape to follow the curve. I gave the workshop the old carpet that followed the skirting board and they rolled the radiators to match the circumference. Any slight mismatch can be rectified by bending the radiator by hand to fit into the brackets. It is best to oversize the rad slightly and fit a TRV, so room temperature can be to taste.

With a lot of bay windows you would need the curtains to drop to the floor. Would this not interfere with the radiator?
