I found a solution, I thought I would post it up because it may just help someone else out there...
I got a Mastercard (PREPAID!)...no credit involved. So now I can pay anything I want over the phone etc.
Downsides - to pay anything, you have to pay an extra 1 pound per transation, OR, 5 pounds per month, so I just chose the extra 1 pound per transaction, still cheaper than a real credit card!
Also, it charges you to withdraw money from a cash machine.
But it does solve my issue.
