Selling books - Opinions please!

I agree with you Janet the form promoting it doesn't promote that you need to do the order so I have been making sure people I tell about the Free books know they have to do the £100 orders in Sept.
Here's a break down too:
£0.00 to join and keep the £100 of books in the kit
Order books to the total of £100 this equates to £76 as 24%
When you place a £100 order if you put in two future bookings in the next 4 weeks you get 20% of free books of your choice so £20 free
For placing a £100 order within your first 3 weeks of joining you get £25 of free books
SO ALL IN you get £246 of Usborne books for £76 !!!! I've worked this out again against the special offers and if the person ordering was to keep all books and buy a current phonics and first experiences offer they would have books that total to £316.
Amazing as its Crimbo time and with the credit crunch, books are a brill present.
xx
Yeah, may just take it up over christmas and see how it goes, shouldnt have much problem doing £100 initial order, I could probably spend that myself on books for my son tbh.
So, looks like I havent got much to lose, even if I cant continue to get big enough order, still might make a few pounds extra for books for my son for christmas.
Thanks for replies guys. xx0 -

i have just downloaded the form - i cant decide what to do - the offer sounds great but i never buy osbourne books from a oraganiser as i can get them cheaper in shops or red house books etc so what worries me is that people will think the same and buy their books else where!! i dont know what to do!!0

Thats what I was thinking. But it seems, I may be wrong, that you only "have to" order £100 worth of book in sept to keep the initial free ones & I think you get 10 or 20% of that order. So even if you struggle to get lots of orders etc, you would still get some free books out of the deal for placing one order.
I think £100 isnt a lot, if you had to place an order for like £500 I would be a bit more worried, re buying back the inital books. Also, its coming up to christmas & so theres probably potential to get some orders there, also work places at school, local childminders etc.
Why dont you speak with hamsterholly, she is an usborne organiser, I have just sent her a pm, so maybe she can help you.

I started doing Usborne in January and, hand on heart, it's something that I wish I'd done years ago. If you host your first party at home you'll get to choose hostess freebies (if your total order exceeds £100) as well as your commission but your team leader would be able to talk you through how you could convert this into an extra saving instead. The order from my first event was over £250 and with anywhere I go to events it's easy to see the appeal that Usborne Books have. People love them and they sell well.
If you sign up with someone in your area they might be able to lend you extra books, racks or anything else that you might want to do an event. But ultimately you can start off with the books and bits from your starter kit and start making money from your first order.
Yes, the books are available elsewhere but Usborne does some fantastic offers through their organisers and people can get books free if they host a party, which makes it particularly popular ahead of Chistmas. Customers don't pay P&P if they order at a party or buy from an organiser's stock at an event ... and customers are now contacting me to ask about new titles or if Usborne has anything suitable for a particular child.
Good luck with whatever you decide but if you love Usborne books yourself then I'd really recommend that you give it a go. You've nothing to lose (and if you try you WILL sell £100 worth without a struggle).0 -

The great thing now is that Usborne are now able to offer us organisers alot of the deals that you can get elsewhere. And quite often cheaper than other places! Plus when you order it as an Organiser, you'll also get your 24% off :T . Shops and other places that sell Usborne Books, only have a handful of our books, whereas we have the whole catalogue to show people. What I find is that people may already know Usborne through buying them elsewhere, which in turn puses them your way when they want to order more. I don't seem to have any problem with this kind of competition.
And with the free kit this month, what have you got to lose!! Especially in the run up to christmas, you'll do the £100 order no probs! If you download the agreement direct from the website (and don't write down a recruiter's details), you could be allocated to anyone anywhere in the country. If you're talking to someone on here that you'd like to join under, make sure you put their details down.
Good luck with it and hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

I'm very interested too - have been toying with taking the plunge for a few weeks!
I'm a little confused about a couple of things - hope someone could clear it up for me!?
1. I've read that when you work as an 'organiser' you are affectively self employed - do you have to fill out any self assessments etc?
2. Does it work like Kleeneze where you have some example books and get your customers to order from a catalogue?
3. I'm tempted to act on the current 'september' free intro offer - would I have to have made the £100 back before the end of september? (in which case i better pull my socks up!)
Thanks in advance if you can help *scratches head*0 -
good luck if you decide!Has a job wooohooo" :j0
