Maternity Allowance

I was wondering if anyone on here can help me...I have tried phoning all different people, to be told they can't help!!

Basically, My Maternity pay finished in April this year and my employment finished with them at the end of July. I am currently pregnant and new baby due in December.

I have read about Maternity Allowance...and you need to have been employed for 26 weeks out of 66 weeks before the baby is born. And I was on Maternity leave, and being paid maternity pay for the 26 out of the 66 weeks.

What my question is...am I likely to qualify? Does me being on maternity leave class as being employed and therefore qualify for it??

I tried phoning jobcentreplus people only to be told I can't be told until 11 weeks before the baby is due...

Thank you

Danielle

You must have been employed and/or self-employed for at least 26 weeks in your 66 week test period. The 26 weeks do not have to be in a row and it does not matter how much you earn. You do not have to be actually physically at work to be employed or self-employed; you might be off work sick or have been on Statutory Maternity Leave for an earlier pregnancy for example

While you were on maternity you were technically employed. SO as far as I can see you will be able to apply for MA. By the way its 26 week out of the last 66 up to the 29th week of pregnancy. Good luck
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!
