Auto downloads?

Been having much trouble with slow/freezing email today,it seems to happen after auto downloads(TuneUp helped before) I suspect these Microsoft/Avg downloads aren't helping. So I want to try halting the autodowns for a while but don't know where to look:confused: can anyone point the location ? I have a go tomorrow as I'm getting:mad: .Thanks

I assure you that you do NOT want to halt those updates!
Whats the email? Google? Hotmail? Outlook?

I assume youve done a full avg update (And your on AVG 8?) and run a FULL scan?
    Whats the firewall you use?

Id recommend against using any 'tuning' software actually. It can sometimes make things worse.

See how you get on but I would certainly recommend a decent firewall and maybe some other programs for spyware etc
(Give me a nudge if your interested)

I would also recommend a GOOGLEMAIL email account as well over talk talks.

Yep I'm always telling people "don't use an ISP's software" and "don't use an ISP's email address as your main one". I'm actually on Talktalk at home and there's not a single mention of Talktalk nor a single piece of software from them on my PC. The idea being of course I could change ISP completely tomorrow or move my PC somewhere else and there's not a single ISP related setting I'd have to change on my PC. Especially having to hand out new email address to everyone or try and indefinitely rely/pay for a previous ISP's email address (which my parents still do despite my constant nagging  ).

Thanks guys. I guess like lots of home users we just go withtheflow regarding ISp/email accounts. Seems the more safety software we get,the more glitches we get.I will just keep my eye on things and everything XX that it doesn't happen again.Ta4now
