Software to make printer ink last longer

I'm sure I have seen something like this before but can't remember what it was called.

Has anyone got any software to make their printer ink last longer? Does it actually do what it says?

What is it called?

Just did a quick Google search and found this: http://www.tweakxp.com/article37625.aspx It is called InkSaver. It's on a website called TweakXP, so not sure whether it is just for Windows XP or for other OS's as well.

I've not used this personally. In fact, I simply set my EPSON Printer's control panel setting to Economy and put the print type on Draft if the document isn't for neat presentation, but just for myself.

    Also, try https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=printer+ink+last+longer.

  • For Epson models, use:

    http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

Great stuff! Helps the very cheap Epson cartridges last that little bit longer!!
  • I found Ink Saver 2 on Amazon and DreamDirect websites for the same price of 19.99 (but you can get 5% cashback via GreasyPalm if you buy it from DreamDirect).

I have a HP 'all in one' and cannot seem to get HP compatible ink cartridges for it so have to keep getting the originals.

I just wondered if the 'ink saving' software was worth buying. If it does what it says on the tin then I'll give it a try.

I just buy cheap cartridges, at £1 a cartridge they are fabulous and I still print out very good photos. I see no difference in the ink quality.

My printer is an Epson, try http://www.northdevoncomputers.com
  • u can get them for less than that for epson models! something like 90p if bought in packs of 30!

my advice always go for epson, because its so much easier to make remanufactured cartridges, and they are so common!

And their after sales is great. My last printer was well outside its warranty but developed a fault. Their friendly e-aftersales dealt with it as well as they could but when they couldn't sort it out, they sent me a new printer! :D
  • I have a lexmark 1180 (big massive daft thing) looked on the website and di a search and no results came up, anywhere else for these cartriges. Mine was lasting well until dad came round to print off party invites on MAX QUALITY

Tried to refill an EPSON cartridge with a refill pack. After making a big mess everywhere , it was realised that the "chip" cannot detect that it has been filled back up, so reports to the PC it is empty and therefore you can't print.
