Sky and the internet

Hi,
I have been working out my SOA for next weeks hearing. One thing I wish to ask is why can I not put the internet and sky down and other items and can the OR reject it.
I am the one going BR and my OH will be paying the bills as I am not working so it is her money and not mine.
Thanks
Steve

They are seen as luxuries.Simple as that. You can put down whatever you like but the OR will only allow essential outgoings. I don't know how they can say that the internet is a luxury, it's absolutely an essential for the majority of people who use it.
Even sky/cable at the basic level should be allowed - if you can't afford to go out, what else are you meant to do?
I imagine that people can "hide" the costs in their budget - I would go mad without the net!0 -
There's no need to hide it, you just have to pay for it out of your alllowed £99 surplus, along with any other non-essentials.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Sorry guys but my point is that it is not my money as I do not an income so how can the OR tell my wife what she can spend her money on.
All the debts are mine due to a failed business0 -
As you don't have an income you won't get an IPA, so the OR won't say your wife can't pay for Sky and Internet.
In the majority of cases where the bankrupt person has an income the OR will disallow what they consider luxuries in order to increase the surplus to over £99 so they can implement an IPA, this obviously doen't apply to you as your wife will be paying 100% of household bills.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

In the area we live there is no analogue or freeview signal. When we moved here I looked on the freeview website, which informed me that I could look forward to it being rolled out here in 2012. :rotfl:
So for us sky is essential, well as essential as having a tv license I suppose,

Well sorry folks but i don't have sky. I did but at £30 odd a month(cancelled it) i can live without it.I do have my internet but it is all in with my phone ect. Some posters don't even have tv so it all boils down to what you class as essential:rolleyes:.DFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

Sky and the internet are not needed nor are they a right. You are asking the courts to write of your debt then complaining that you can't have luxury items. Most people are having to cut back, I'm sure they would love to have more luxury items but if you can't afford it you shouldn't have it.Barclaycard 3800

phwaa. Speak for yourself! I have just the basic essentials such as Sky and Internet plus a huge 342" TV....And a butler..... (called Rhett.) And a nanny.... and my own vineyard....Cesna....
Sorry... I was miles away for a second there.:rotfl:0 -
You wouldn't die without it very few things are essential TV in any form isn't one of them. I havn't had sky for over a decade, when we moved we didn't bother putting the dish back up. Didn't miss it then, don't miss it now.Rainbow_Butterfly wrote: »In the area we live there is no analogue or freeview signal.
