As this seems to be a bit of a grey area it would be sensible to wait for the go-ahead from MSE team I agree.

I personally would not be happy giving out my address but I guess its up to individuals how comfortable they are with this taking into account the problems it has caused in the past.

Thanks for making members aware of this moonie.

Yes it is a kind offer made no one is disputing that, but it relies on a certain amount of trust between members and as such can cause problems (and has in the past), hence the reason they included it into the rules.

nothing about being on a high horse, just friendly advise on the rules that you may/may not have been aware of.

no offence mate, but.... get over yourself!!

they're doing each other a favour! A bit of niceness can go a long way!

Would you rather they sold them to each other on ebay?

I think that moonie is just kindly offering a word of caution in that although the vast majority of members are genuine kind helpful people it only takes one who is not so genuine to cause you problems as far as disclosing your address is concerned.

m00nie is exactly right in what he says and as a Board Guide I should really have posted a similar warning at the start instead of simply praising the OP for their kindness.

In my defence, I seemed to be dealing with an unusually high number of unpleasant peeps at the time and when I saw kindness, my gut reaction was to think 'thank goodness for nice people'. In reality however, this meant I wasn't doing my job properly.

So please don't give m00nie a hard time, he is only stating the rules we all have to follow, he doesn't make them up by himself.

Has Martin and the team been made aware of this thread yet?

    Hi folks.

I've just seen this. It is a grey area, but i understand why - its a lovely idea. I'm happy for people to give their old copies of the Money Diet to users of this board (though of course the old version is a little out of date, much is still useable)

May I make three points though

    1. It should be a genuine gift, the gift giver should sort the postage, then there'll be no argument over "i sent postage and didnt get"
    2. Please be very careful about what personal details you give someone, you do that at your own risk
    3. The site takes no responsibility for transfers
    4. This rule anomoly only applies in this circumstance
    5. The books shouldn't then find themselves on eBay after being gifted
    6. This shouldn't be pushed elsewhere on the site or in public

    Martin :)
