Virgin Isa

I opened a cash Isa with virgin, and I have been saving up for our holiday in disneyland paris at the end of this month, and I called today as I needed to make a transfer to cover a cheque.

They told me a cheque for the amount requested would be with me in 5 working days:eek: I said excuse me ??? I have been told previously that i can do a simple transfer to my own bank by calling. They said I am sorry, you have been misinformed, we can however pay a telegraphic transfer through the account, but the charge will be £15  I said I didnt want a telegraphic transfer, working in a bank myself I know I would need to transfer to an account abroad for this ;) so I said i would take the cheque.

I was so angry ! How dare they charge me £15 for withdrawing my own money ! No other banks do this ! Thank goodness I called today to ask, my orginal plan was to call 5 working days before we left for disney and do the transfer, and theres no way it would have been ready

I called them back as soon as I got off the phone and had a little moan, asked them to cancel my account and send me another cheque for the rest of the balance.

I will be opening another ISA with someone else.

Just to warn anyone thinking of going to virgin.

Would transferring the ISA have been a better option?
