what do you mean by haywire, it may just need Viruses+spyware removing from it to get it running OK

Mmm also what nmake of PC as some Dells have the restore partition
and on start up hit F12 and a restore will begin, otherwise Browntoa is spot on
as it could just be crap on the machine.

If it is a branded machine (e.g. A Dell, HP etc.) then they usually have a restore disk that comes with them, or a restore partition (as Mr Skint said). If you have a branded machine but are unsure, try calling the manufacturer.

Anyway, if you do have a restore disk, it will restore your computer back to a factory setup, with everything completely removed from it.

If you don't have a branded machine, and you can't fix it with the advice Browntoa gives, you will probably need to buy a Windows disk and install that.

A friend of mine had a TIME machine and it drove me mad!

Anyway, if you don't have any disks at all, and you need to reinstall/format it, you will need to purchase an Operating System to install. Depending on the age of your computer will depend on whether you can run Windows XP or not.

Try eBuyer for Windows XP: https://www.ebuyer.co.uk

If not, then you will need to source an OS like Windows 98 or Windows ME from somewhere else. I'm not sure if eBuyer stock these.

I know that my friend's machine had a restore disk with it, but it looks like that isn't the case with yours. Also, try taking it back to the retailer you purchased it from and finding out whether they can reinstall it. Explain you bought it from them originally... if they are going to charge, find out whether purchasing an OS and doing it yourself would be cheaper, or take the option you think best!

    Hope this helps. ;)
