E-ON capping offer to 2010

Hi all - we got a letter from E-ON today offering their new prices to be capped at the following (below) until July 2010. There is a "premium" to pay (depending on some factors) and of course a penalty if we want to get out. So the big question is can anyone offer advice?

(Prices including VAT)

Electricity
25.389p/kWh (primary unit rate)
11.225p/kWh (secondary unit rate)

Gas
6.53p/kWh (primary unit rate)
3.557p/kWh (secondary unit rate)

Thanks in advance

  • I think this is about 2.4% above normal standard rates now for Eon. For dual fuel you get the early switching penalty of £50 on dual fuels. The key is do you think there's a chance of a price increase that makes it worth paying just under 3% extra for in the meantime?

Or pay these prices with Eon Energy Online Extra Saver 8?

    Electricity
Normal units up to 900 kWhs
    19.6455 pence
    Normal units
    10.647 pence per kWh

    Gas
Normal units up to 2680 kWhs
    4.5696 pence
    Normal units
    2.9127 pence per kWh

    Quite a difference.

Is that the same region as the OP? Elec prices are different across the UK, although at least Eon don't yet have regional gas prices too.

I have no idea as OP doesn't mention region. However it wouldn't surprise me if everywhere else is less than Scottish Power region as they usually are. We seem to have the dearest electricity about.

Just checked Midlands area and they are cheaper than mine.
