Hopefully he would - but it makes sense to consider the worse-case scenario in advance rather than find that your are in it and then wonder what you are going to do financially!0 -
WTC and CTC take no account of your outgoings though so whether the accomodation is rent free or not should make no difference to your income.
However both are worked out on last financial years income and this years circumstances, so you will be assessed on the previous financial years income and the fact that you have 2 children who are school age. Thsi could lead to an underpayment so be prepared for a lower income than you may have expected.
I would ring the HMRC helpline (0845 300 3900) and ask them exactly what they need to know, but having had a quick look on the sites and at the books then I think you can claim based on your income alone :T
