Gas and Electricity/Standing Charge

I've been looking at various tariffs in order to try and change to a capped or fixed rate in light of the recent rises. Can you help?? Does it work out cheaper to have a tariff with a standing charge or without, as the prices per unit are sometimes lower with a standing charge!!! Hope this make sense?????

  • Different for different people, you can't answer that question simply!

If you were not in your property or used no gas or electricity for months at a time a product with no standing charge may be good for you, but that doesn't cover off all the possibilities.

You'd have to calculate it yourself based on your past use. Do 2 different calculations to show what would be better for you.
  • Many thanks, have done the two different calculations "now suffering from major brain ache" and have discovered the NSC tariff would be more beneficial.
