the best route for us was to go down the cccs way....currently getting that all sorted and at the same time we both opened up accounts with abbey only i requested a basic for all three (one each plus a joint) but for some reason the accounts we got are with a overdraft/cheque card facility so do we have the wrong accounts?

They have given you a 'normal' rather than basic account by the looks of it. Unless you really want the basic ones with no overdraft, etc. then there is no need to change them.0

oh..so these accounts are still acceptable for those on cccs dmp? if it is then fine i will leave it as it is if not then back to the drawing board lol0

I'm on a DMP with CCCS and I was told to open a basic account with no overdraft etc as this is seen as credit and you could be tempted to use it which will add to your debts - you'll probably find it's noted somewhere in the contract they sent you to sign. I'd be careful as I have heard of CCCS cancelling a DMP because somebody took out further credit whilst with CCCS. Although it's hassle, it may be worth opening a basic account just to be on the safe side. I have a Natwest Step account but obviously if they are one of your creditors or linked to one of your creditors it may not be possible.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Hoping this has worked! If not, go onto the the FSA website and the money made clear section or just type in basic bank accounts in the search bit and it will show you.

I think it's part of the Provident Financial group - in which case I should imagine you should be fairly safe with any of the basic accounts in the link.
I will double check this though.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
