I booked a hotel with expedia last night at a very preferential rate, and booked it quickly. Today,i read a few more hotel reviews and comments were coming back that it only cost a little bit more to upgrade to an executive room, which looked lovely and spacious so i decided to go for it.
I read the t & cs and was prepared for what came next:
Me-" I would like to upgrade to an executive room,as long as I don't have to pay the £15.00 fee for cancellation/change."
Her " I will check...no,you will have to pay it".
Me "in that case,I will upgrade when I get their, then I won't have to pay."
Her " I will just check..ok,we will drop the fee."
me "thanks."
Am I being unfair,or have they got a nerve?

Have they got a nerve for what?
Offering to waive the change fee when you want to make a change to your reservation?

no- trying to charge me for giving them more of my money.I dont see how upgrading is in the same league as having made a material error.0

So they were trying to charge you an additional fee on top of the extra money you'd pay for the upgrade? If that's the case then yes, that doesn't quite seem fair.
You got there in the end though, so there's no problem

I wanted to change an Expedia booking and was a little irked at the cancellation fee, especially as I would be spending more money. Instead to cancelling on line I phoned and asked would they waive the cancellation fee if I did the new booking through them.
Immediate answer "yes I can do that"
Quite surprised it was that easy £15.19 saved for a quick phonecall :T0 -
spose the fee limits the amount of messers that would book and cancel trying to save 2p here n there
its good that they waive it easily though0
