economy 7 time clock
hi, can any one help? just noticed the time clock which switches the tariffs over in the meter box is 3 hours behind !! it is set for 12 30 to 7 30 but now its 3 30 to 10 30. no problem for the storage heaters ( if anything its better ) as these are on there own circuit. however the immersion heater is on the ring main and controlled by its own timer which is set for 12 30 to 7 30, this clock is correct so the heater has been coming on 3 hours before the cheap rate has started !!!! oh my god!! quickly moved the timer to match the SEALED timer in the meter box, problem sorted! . rang n power today they say the meter reader should check the clock and will send someone round on the 22 nov !! good job i have got the sense to move the heater clock!! what if i had not i said !! i have no idea how long this has been going on ( this is my mothers house ) but she has told me she though the bills where getting dear! has she any chance of getting any money back? whos job it to check the clock? its an old one, not the new radio controlled ones. many thanks all.

It's your job to check the immerser timer as its on the side of the supply you're responsable for. You may have a case given how far the E7 timer is out though - it sounds like its faulty if its slipped so far behind. Or just plain installed wrong.
You should also experiment with the duration of the water timer. Find how much hot water your mother uses. Vary the timer so it finishes heating in line with E7 switch-off time. I have it down currently to 90mins.0 -
Out of interest how do you tell how this timer is set? I looked at it and it made no sense to me as it moves. I may have just been really blonde with it0

Which timer?
The immerser timer is installer dependent.
The E7 timer ..... if its mechanical it probably works on the same prinicipal as mine which I'll describe as ................
a clock dial with 12hrs red and 12 hrs grey round the outside. In the red zone are two tabs jutting out. These are the start/off times. They hit a switch at the bottom left of the display which turns on/off the E7 rate.0
