    In a truly stunning example of inter-company communication and organisation, Paypal have announced a period of downtime on September 11th - 7 days after a cheap listing day promotion...

    http://www2.ebay.com/aw/uk/200809021142142.html
    We wanted to let you know that the PayPal site will undergo maintenance on Thursday, 11th September 2008 between 7am and 8am BST.

    During this time, the following features will be unavailable.

    * Sending or receiving payments through your PayPal account
    * Some instant payment notifications may be delayed or potentially not delivered
    * Payflow account sign up
    * The ability to modify fraud filter settings

    If anybody has listed anything already this morning on a 7 day listing, be aware of this planned maintenance.

    Yes, great timing and paypal show no hint of them finishing the work on time.

    I have a major paypal problem as well, a chargeback for fraulent use of a credit card, my first ever. However, buyer is a lawyer in the US and all his details including phone number and home address check out properly, so it looks like a dreadful mistake on someone's part, even paypal say it looks a bit odd. It isn't even a great deal of money, yet a couple of other much more expensive items bought at the same time haven't been chargebacked..curiouser and curriouser. I've tracked him down to his office and have his personal telephone number, plus that of his wife who is on the education board, plus by one of those strange co incidences I have an ex pat friend living in the same town who confirms the street is a 'posh one' .

    5p listing day is a bit of a false economy unless you are listing something expensive. On normal cheap items the listing cost saving is minimal and there's far more competition from other sellers whereas the number of buyers basically remains the same.
  • Hi, How often are these 5p listing days? i've had a problem with paypal so can't sell today :(

    I managed to get a fair whack listed and relisted, all for 5p a go including the free gallery.

    No bids yet but on a handful of my items I already have 3 watchers and a number of the other have one or two watchers already. It looks like Auctiva are speeding up, as on one I had a watcher within 11 minutes of the listing being uploaded from Auctiva.
