Morning all,
I hope you had a nice weekend.
I was looking to get some advice of someone who knows about plastering. In the house we have bought, 3 of the ceilings have very deep and thick artex on them and i really wanted nice smooth ceilings. I have been given the following three options and was wondering if someone could tell me which one was best, i must say we are on quite a tight budget and deadline.
1) Plasterboard over the artex then skim them - how much will this cost and how long roughly will it take?
2) Bond over the artex, then skim them, agiana how long and how much?
3) Pull down the complete ceilings, re-board and then skim, again cost and time if anyone has an idea?
Many thanks
V

2 would be the quickest and least costly, measure the room and ring up a few plasters for a quote0

How old is the house? If it has lath and plaster ceilings I wouldn't even contemplate option 3 - I'd rather move! (I say this from experience, unfortunately.)
If the ceiling is sound I'd say 2 is a good option. I had my ceilings skimmed recently. It's still a messy job: any plastering is(!), but in my room (around 13' square), it took less than a day and cost (from memory) around £300. The other room was included as part of a complete reskim, so worked out cheaper.Debbie0
