Tile Paint For Around Electric Fire

I'm going to decorate the lounge but the tiles on the fireplace wont match the colour scheme so I want to paint them rather than retile. The fire is used sometimes when its really cold in winter and central heating can't cope.
Probably will paint them a neutral colour like cream/magnolia. Can anyone offer me any advice on what brand is best to use and the best procedure for can't tell its been painted finish?

I'd recommend getting it retiled. If you paint it you'd need a heat resistant paint. IMO tile paint looks like paint.0

I just realized that the tiles are embossed, if thats the way to describe them. They arent flat they have a design built into them. How would that effect them being painted?
I know retiling would be better but I think I would prefer to paint them first to try it and only then retile if the results are not as I'd like. At the moment the tiles are flush with the wooden hearth surround so retiling over would bring the tiles above the wood, I could build up the wood to match afterwards but this is all extra work I'd like to try and get away with if the painiting works. Removing the tiles is also something I don't want to have to do either.Thanx
