I need an all in one printer/scanner/fax

I would like to buy an all in one machine that prints (including photos but doesn't have to be fantastic photo quality) scans/copies and is also a fax machine.

The Which? report recommends the HP photosmart 2610 and the Canon Pixma MP780 but both are £180+

I don't mind paying that if they are the best value but there seems to be lots more out there.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

If you hadn't said that you needed a fax I would have happily recommended the Canon Pixma MP130. This model is only about a year old but is already being replaced by the MP170 (I think!). What swung it for me was the cost of replacement cartridges about £1 each on the MP130 and about £10-£12 each on the MP170. The MP130 also has a facility where you can put in a camera card directly and print without having to route through your pc. I picked one up after a lot of hunting around for £68.....been really pleased with it!
  • Thank you for your reply.

I will have a look at your suggestion and maybe get a separate fax (any ideas? it will only be for occasional use and doesn't need to be fantastic quality but it does need to be reliable)

    Thanks

You could use a PC as a fax machine with some free software and a dial up modem.

I've got an EPSON and never realised this... I usually always keep my ink levels topped up anyway!

Windows XP comes with Fax software which can be activated via Add/Remove Windows Components. (Called Fax Services I think).

If you use Broadband, I recommend you only plug your dial-up modem in when sending the fax, then unplug it again, to avoid dialers connecting and clocking up large amounts on your telephone bill.

It may not be on all of them but it is on ours - I was shocked
