sony DVD PLAYER

I have one of the first sort of dvd player with surround sound speakers ( 5 ) it seems to be on the blink. if i cant get it fixed could i replace it with another model ? what happens to the speakers as they are wired in underneath the wooden flloor.any advise would be great.

    You'll probably find the speakers are connected to the back of the DVD player either via speaker cable or via phono plugs. You would need a new DVD Player with Surround Sound capability, or you might be able to get a seperate surround sound system and wire your new DVD Player into this Seperate System (The seperate system would have your speakers attached)
